Hidden Meadows – Rachael & Mike

September 29th, 2009 by edit1media

At the beginning of August I got a phone call from Rachael’s mom who REALLY wanted us to do a video for her daughter…more specifically she especially wanted a Same Day Edit. It was already a busy day for us, but luckily Garrett, Wes and Andrew were able to head up to Hidden Meadows a few weeks ago and put together an awesome video for their family and guests to enjoy at the reception. Garrett did a great job putting together a video that really showed how joyful Rachael and Mike were that day! We are so lucky to have such amazing people join our team to help shoot and do Same Day Edits on those weekends where we have extra demand (can you say Saturday’s in August??).

Jackie and Tyler — Elegant Wedding in Tacoma

September 28th, 2009 by edit1media

We met Jackie and her mom at the Seattle Wedding Show last January and they fell in love with our work right away. In fact they weathered (pun intended) a three hour drive in a horrible storm to come meet us and book Jackie’s wedding video with us! Now THAT is dedication! Jackie was super excited to have a Same Day Edit and well….she was just super excited all day on her wedding day! I had so much fun working with her! I hope you enjoy her video!

Awesome Event in Seattle

September 21st, 2009 by edit1media

thesimpleplan-blogbannerOur friend Michelle Loretta of mmm….paper and Sage Wedding Pros fame is putting on an awesome workshop for wedding professionals called The Simple Plan. It’s all about an easy approach to writing your business plan and it’s open to wedding professionals of any kind, from any field.

Here’s the info:

The Simple Plan

An Easy Approach to Writing your Business Plan
(workshop open to Wedding Professionals of any kind)
Hotel Andra
Nov 6-7
$299 early bird pricing thru 9/30; $349 thru 11/1

This event is perfect for:

Wedding Businesses who…

• have never written your business plan but know you should.
• have a business plan that is covered in cobwebs.
• want an easy approach to writing your business plan.
• find “strength in numbers” and value business collaboration.
• are gearing up for a successful 2010 and want to have a PLAN!

As mentioned earlier, Sage Wedding Pros are the people behind this event. Here is some more info about Michelle and Kelly:

Michelle Loretta is the number one authority when it comes to making good business decisions. She started out as a big-time accountant for a big-time firm. She has an amazingly creative personality that she couldn’t keep quiet for much longer, so she left her big-time job to be a corporate showroom sales manager for a small importer and distributor of fashion apparel. It was creatively fulfilling, but intellectually and analytically not so stimulating. She stopped for a minute to think about what she truly loved. She loved PAPER! In 2004, she founded mmm…paper, a fabulous stationary company specializing in wedding invitations, birth announcements, and regular ol’ stationary. Michelle is incredibly creative, extremely smart and an all around great person. It’s definitely worth it to hear what she has to say!

Kelly Simants has always wanted to be a wedding planner and business owner. After taking some entrepreneur classes in college, she wrote a business plan and started working as the wedding coordinator at University Presbyterian Church in Seattle. She was coordinating about 3 weddings per weekend and soon realized it was time to start her own business. For the next couple of years, Kelly planned weddings on the side while still pursuing her career in Human Resources. The opportunity finally came to plan weddings full-time and Sweet Pea Events was born. Her event expertise, passion for people and creativity are what make her stand out from other coordinators.

Both Michelle and Kelly are co-creators of the wonderful event Get Hitched Give Hope, where wedding professionals and brides and grooms come together to raise money for Making Memories Breast Cancer Foundation. Please click on the links to learn more about this fun and fabulous event.

Diane & Fred – The Reception

September 14th, 2009 by edit1media

This is the much anticipated reception edit to add on to Diane & Fred’s super fun Same Day Edit. It was a small reception with only about 60 guests but with Darrell Christel’s (aka DJ Daddy Cool) help they rocked Herban Feast’s SoDo Park! Most of the dancing footage was shot with our fabulous new Canon 5D Mark II camera so we got some shots without using any extra lighting. This was an amazing party!

Michelle Engvall and her lovely assistants (Married & More with Michelle) planned and executed this amazing event. We really love working with Michelle. She takes care of every detail while still being one of the sweetest people you will ever meet! Lucky for me, I also worked with her again this past weekend, but more on that wedding later on! Steven Moore Designs transformed this large, rustic yet urban space into something warm and intimate for a small wedding and reception. The decor was so well thought out with intricate details that just keeps your eyes moving all around the long family-style table. It’s like every time you look at the table, you see something new. Amazing!

Wedding + Golf Club at Newcastle + Helicopter = Wow!

September 11th, 2009 by edit1media

That’s right…Dina surprised her groom, Chris, with a fantastic helicopter ride before their wedding ceremony at the Golf Club at Newcastle! The couple and their families are from Vancouver, British Columbia and decided to have a destination wedding here in Seattle. So what better way to see the area than by air?? The chopper landed on the 10th tee and took the couple and Chris (our Chris that is…not to be confused with the groom Chris!) over Seattle and the Space Needle. I’d say that is a pretty cool way to start of your wedding, don’t you agree?

While Dina and Chris were taking their whirlwind tour above the city, I was busy getting some gorgeous detail shots of Dina’s dress, jewelery, etc….she had so much beautiful eye candy and it was really nice to have an extended amount of quite time to get everything captured. The ceremony was short but very sweet and since there were only about 50 guests, the reception was held in the tent. The Same Day Edit was a hit and later in the evening Dina told me she knew it would be amazing, but it was even MORE incredible than she dreamed it could be. That was like music to my ears. Did I mention how much we love filming weddings for awesome people like this??

We also enjoyed working with the extremely talented Joey Hong from JKHPhotography. Just a few weeks ago with worked with his brother John Hong at another wedding. These guys are simply some of the most amazing photographers on the planet. Not only do they take insane photos that are pieces of art, they are really nice, the utmost professionals and so easy to work with. It’s really a pleasure working with them!

This wedding was a great example of how we try to go the extra mile for our clients. I got an email from Dina just before midnight on Tuesday (the night before the wedding) about the helicopter. So first thing the next morning I made arrangements to get a second Canon 5D Mark II (which takes GORGEOUS video footage…more about that in another post!) along with an extra wide lens and a gyroscope to make sure we could get some incredible aerial shots.  We picked up all the gear on the way to the wedding and it was really worth it! The footage turned out great and we used it in their Same Day Edit….man, was it cool! I think every wedding should have a helicopter! : )

Edit 1 Media featured in Seattle Bride Magazine

September 8th, 2009 by edit1media

If you haven’t already, make sure you check out the newest issue of Seattle Bride Magazine. Not only were we voted Best Videographer in both the Vendor’s Choice category AND Reader’s Choice, but Chris and Laura were interviewed for their Ask the Expert column. It’s an awesome article that really stresses the importance of having a wedding video. Also check out the behind-the-scenes video we did for a flower shoot featured in Seattle Bride Magazine.

Hope everyone enjoys!
