Carrie & Nick – Ultimate Seattle Wedding in the Space Needle

February 20th, 2010 by edit1media

When people think about Seattle they usually think about Starbucks coffee, Pike Place Market, and the Space Needle. The Needle has to be the most iconic building in Seattle and it was also the place where Carrie and Nick tied the knot recently! We had SO much fun at this wedding! They are constantly laughing and so obviously in love with each other.

Carrie and Nick got ready and had their First Glance at the fantabulous Fairmont Olympic Hotel. I’m pretty sure the Fairmont was our home away from home last year…even the guys at the valet were getting to know us really well! Carrie looked SO regal and elegant in her sleek Winnie Couture gown (which she bought at La Belle Reve in Bellevue). And her gorgeous bridal bouquet and other floral designs that day were created by Tanya Stone of Elements in Bloom. Their photo session with Jason Koenig of JKoe Photography was such a blast and Jason got some amazing images while we got some great moments of laughter and movement at Kerry Park and the EMP at Seattle Center.

The wedding ceremony was held in the Skyline Level of the Space Needle which is 100 feet up and has a 360 degree view of Seattle. Annemarie Juhlian officiated the ceremony and as always made it a very personalized and joyous occasion. There were LOTS of tears and laughter! Afterwards we headed up to the observation deck of the Space Needle to take some more photos and video with a gorgeous sunset backdrop. You just can’t get any more “Seattle” than this!

I would say something like “and then the party started” but honestly…it was a party all day long! Carrie & Nick have some very entertaining friends and family and we loved capturing them having a great time on the dance floor. Kevin Olson of Disco Royale spun the tunes and kept the floor packed with moving bodies! I think the dancing might be my favorite part of their video, so make sure you watch it, OK??? :)

A lot of couples we talk to budget a smaller amount for their wedding video, not completely knowing the costs involved, and sometimes even get a little sticker shock after talking with us. Carrie found us on Junebug Weddings (yay for Junebug!) and after meeting with us she did a little shopping around, but ultimately realized she was really drawn to our quality and style of work so they were able to rearrange a few things in their budget to hire us since this is the one thing that will truly last their lifetimes! She said it was worth every penny and over time the cost won’t matter, but the quality and memories will. I think she made the right choice!

Thao & Says – Wedding at the Seattle W Hotel

February 1st, 2010 by edit1media

This was another fabulous wedding put together by our friend and wedding planner extraordinaire Weddings With Wendy. She referred Thao & Says to us for their wedding video at the Seattle W Hotel. Thao looked stunning in her Augusta Jones “Kenzie” wedding gown that she purchased at I Do Bridal. She said it was the first dress she tried on…personally I think she chose very wisely!

They came to pick it up their video on Friday night and took a few minutes to sit down and watch it with us. There was a lot of laughter and emotional tears as they reminisced about their wedding and commented on all the moments they didn’t get to see that day. To say they were delighted would be an understatement! They both said over and over again how happy they were that they decided to invest in a wedding video and that they hired us. In fact Thao emailed me just last night asking to do some more editing and said “Honestly, if I knew I would be so crazy over the video like this, I would have totally paid the extra money in the beginning. You’re really worth every penny!”

Chris and Garrett had a great time shooting alongside their photographer, Yours by John. I think his personality fit Thao & Says perfectly and he was able to bring out their fun personalities in a super stylish way. As always, David Reed did a marvelous job at officiating the ceremony, and I’m in love with their personalized vows. As soon as I heard then I knew they would become the centerpiece of the edit along with the great toasts from the Best Man and Matron of Honor! Darrell Christel rocked the house as their DJ during the reception (as you can see from the video!) and Says did a “Thriller” dance which NO ONE knew about (not even us) and we put as a bonus chapter on their DVD. What a fun group this was!

Classic Super 8mm Wedding at Annie Wright School – Allison & James

January 5th, 2010 by edit1media

We are so lucky to work with some of the most amazing couples on the planet combined with the most talented people in the wedding industry! When Michelle Engvall from Married and More with Michelle referred Allison & James to us for their wedding at the Annie Wright School, I was SO excited! I’ve driven past that gorgeous school numerous times but have never been inside…and now to film a WEDDING there?? Get out!! Have I told you how much I love historic buildings???

When Allison and her mom came to meet with us, I was doubly excited! They are very serene, calm, strong women who have this great spark in their eyes that draws you to them. And while Allison is a beautiful and sophisticated young lady, she also has a whimsical and fun charm that is contagious! I imagine that these are some of the traits that attracted James to Allison when they met at Harvard University where they were both attending school.

Using a combination of High Definition and Super 8mm motion movie film felt very right for this couple since they embraced both modern whimsy and historical style into their wedding. This highlight is shot completely in film which gives it an ageless, artistic feel but they will also be receiving a longer edit in all High Definition so they get the best of both worlds!

If you would like to see some of the details and decor from Steven Moore Designs and the fabulous photos taken by Gabriel Boone Photography, check out the wedding in the current issue of Seattle Metropolitan Bride & Groom.

Modern Wedding at Pravda Studios

December 17th, 2009 by edit1media

Nicole and Chuck had an elegant, modern wedding at Pravda Studios in Seattle. Their wedding was full of beautiful, customized details, from their jaw-dropping birch tree altar, to customized cigars, right down to the delicious cupcakes!

Nicole started out by getting ready at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel while Chuck got ready at the Grand Hyatt. Nicole looked absolutely stunning in her gorgeous Lazzaro gown. Seriously…the gown looks like it was made just for her! Her waist looked like it was 18 inches!

Despite it being October, the rain didn’t make an appearance so they were able to get quite a few outside shots with their photographer Laura Totten of Totten Photography. (You can see Laura’s awesome blog post about their wedding here.) Nicole’s bouquet and reception decor were rich with white roses and beautiful orchids…so modern! The flowers were provided by Laurel’s Floral Decor. Yes, she had vendors named Laura, Laura and Laurel. Obviously Nicole and Chuck chose only the best! :)

Stunning Coeur d’Alene Wedding – Lindsey & Tommy Tribbett

October 18th, 2009 by edit1media

From the moment I walked in to the Penthouse Suite in the Coeur d’Alene Resort and saw the red patent leather Valentino d’Orsay pumps, I KNEW this was going to be a day to remember! The suite was filled with gorgeous women getting ready for Lindsey & Tommy’s wedding….including a bridesmaid whose wedding we are filming next year, and of course Lindsey’s mom, who Chris used to work with many years ago. The connections to this wedding were many and it really made for a fun day!

Chris, Garrett and I had such a great time working with Gabriel and Boone who are very talented brothers that do amazing photography. We had a chance to work with them a few weeks ago at another wedding at the Annie Wright School, so it was great to work with them again. Everyone had a blast during the photo session and both Chris and Garrett got some great shots…I especially love Chris’ idea to get the creative golf cart shots! Fun!

Being a destination wedding with over 500 guests and two HUGE screens to show the Same Day Edit, I was really excited about this one! The entire day was shot with our DSLR HD cameras and we had a few guests comment that it looked like movie film. It was fun and emotional and just a great representation of their day. I’m pretty sure there were 500 teary eyes in that room by the time the video was finished!

This was an extra fun wedding because four of our former and current brides were there! It was great to catch up with each one of them and I think it is a real testament to the company that we have worked so hard to build…brides and grooms referring us to their friends is the best kind of compliment we can receive. We truly love each one of our clients and I just can’t tell you how much it meant to us to be with these fabulous ladies (and gentlemen!). It was the best “end of the season” pick-me-up that I could have ever asked for! To top it off, at the end of the evening the Maid of Honor and her fiancee came up to us and said they need to hire us for their wedding in San Diego. I’m so excited to continue working with such an amazing group of people! Have I told you lately how much I love doing weddings?

Traditional Italian Catholic Wedding at St. James Cathedral

October 4th, 2009 by edit1media

Last weekend we had the pleasure of filming Natalie & Jeremiah’s wedding. Natalie got dressed with her mom, sister & grandmother’s help in a beautiful suite at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel. Natalie’s beautiful wedding gown was accented with some FUN blue shoes…I was in love with them the second I saw them! So cute! When she was finishing getting dressed, her Dad entered the room and saw his little girl for the first time that day as a stunning bride…it was a very emotional and touching moment without a dry eye in the room!

Jeremiah didn’t see Natalie until the wedding ceremony and I’d say he was pretty blown away by the sight of his gorgeous bride walking down the aisle at St. James Cathedral. After the Wedding Mass, the newleyweds took photos with Sean Flanigan then headed back to the Fairmont for their reception in the lush Garden Room. One of our previous couples, Juliette and Mark were there as guests and I was so excited to see they are expecting! I wish I had more time to talk with them, but it was a pretty busy night for our team!

Natalie requested Ave Maria as the music for their Same Day Edit because it has special meaning for them and both of their families. I think it fit the romantic, spiritual feeling of the day.

Jackie and Tyler — Elegant Wedding in Tacoma

September 28th, 2009 by edit1media

We met Jackie and her mom at the Seattle Wedding Show last January and they fell in love with our work right away. In fact they weathered (pun intended) a three hour drive in a horrible storm to come meet us and book Jackie’s wedding video with us! Now THAT is dedication! Jackie was super excited to have a Same Day Edit and well….she was just super excited all day on her wedding day! I had so much fun working with her! I hope you enjoy her video!

Wedding + Golf Club at Newcastle + Helicopter = Wow!

September 11th, 2009 by edit1media

That’s right…Dina surprised her groom, Chris, with a fantastic helicopter ride before their wedding ceremony at the Golf Club at Newcastle! The couple and their families are from Vancouver, British Columbia and decided to have a destination wedding here in Seattle. So what better way to see the area than by air?? The chopper landed on the 10th tee and took the couple and Chris (our Chris that is…not to be confused with the groom Chris!) over Seattle and the Space Needle. I’d say that is a pretty cool way to start of your wedding, don’t you agree?

While Dina and Chris were taking their whirlwind tour above the city, I was busy getting some gorgeous detail shots of Dina’s dress, jewelery, etc….she had so much beautiful eye candy and it was really nice to have an extended amount of quite time to get everything captured. The ceremony was short but very sweet and since there were only about 50 guests, the reception was held in the tent. The Same Day Edit was a hit and later in the evening Dina told me she knew it would be amazing, but it was even MORE incredible than she dreamed it could be. That was like music to my ears. Did I mention how much we love filming weddings for awesome people like this??

We also enjoyed working with the extremely talented Joey Hong from JKHPhotography. Just a few weeks ago with worked with his brother John Hong at another wedding. These guys are simply some of the most amazing photographers on the planet. Not only do they take insane photos that are pieces of art, they are really nice, the utmost professionals and so easy to work with. It’s really a pleasure working with them!

This wedding was a great example of how we try to go the extra mile for our clients. I got an email from Dina just before midnight on Tuesday (the night before the wedding) about the helicopter. So first thing the next morning I made arrangements to get a second Canon 5D Mark II (which takes GORGEOUS video footage…more about that in another post!) along with an extra wide lens and a gyroscope to make sure we could get some incredible aerial shots.  We picked up all the gear on the way to the wedding and it was really worth it! The footage turned out great and we used it in their Same Day Edit….man, was it cool! I think every wedding should have a helicopter! : )

A Very Seattle-esque Wedding at St. James & Salty’s

August 31st, 2009 by edit1media

On Saturday morning I woke up to the sound of rain and thought “Oh no…not today!!”. I knew that Jemima and Winston had set aside lots of time to take photos outside with Winnie Forbes and I could hardly wait to film their wedding and get some beautiful shots for their Same Day Edit. Thankfully by noon the skies cleared up and it turned out to be a beautiful late summer day…just in time for a sweet First Glance by the fountain at the Bellevue Club Hotel.

We LOVE to shoot at St. James…lucky for our clients the coordinators there love us too because we are able to create beautiful videos for our couples while still respecting their guidelines. It’s such a beautiful cathedral and Father Ryan is so warm and welcoming. Some of his words got me choked up this time, especially when I glanced over at Chris and though how lucky I am to be able to work alongside my husband and capture these amazing moments for our clients.

After the ceremony I jumped into the van (a.k.a. the edit-mobile) and started editing while Chris and Garrett filmed the newlyweds at Kerry Park and Parson’s Garden. By that time we were hungry and thirsty. There was a kid with a lemonade stand near Kerry Park who was awfully happy when Chris went over and ordered three lemonades, three bottles of water, and three Twizzlers. That totally hit the spot!

With the photo session complete, we all headed to Salty’s on Alki for the reception. What else can you say about the view of Seattle at Salty’s other than “WOW!”. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve been there, but I still just LOVE the view. And it’s so cool to be there long enough to see the light change from daylight to sunset then into night when all the lights come on. It’s simply stunning and the guests really enjoy snapping tons of pictures of the skyline. As if the skyline and scrumptious food wasn’t enough, the guests also got to enjoy a photo booth, the Same Day Edit and a First Dance with some special “Rock the Reception” style dancing! I was OUTSIDE in the edit-mobile making DVD copies and could hear the hooting and hollering! It was great!

As we got ready to leave I made sure to find Winston and Jemima to say goodnight. Winston said “We knew the Same Day Edit was going to be amazing, but that just totally blew us out of the water! Thank you sooo much for such an amazing video!” and as I walked back to the car I over heard another guest telling Chris how cool it was to see everything they missed that day and how much Winston & Jemima would treasure the video in the future. It’s so neat to me to think that as much as they love their video now, it will only appreciate in value and importance in their family history. How cool is that?

Romantic Wedding at Sander’s Mansion

August 16th, 2009 by edit1media

We just got back from a great wedding at Sander’s Mansion ….what a beautiful location! The mansion is located on 32 acres of gorgeous property that used to belong to the family who started Smith Brother’s Dairy (we get our milk delivered from them!). The bridal suite is a large vintage room with amazing natural light streaming in the windows and overlooking a quaint little lake with an old wooden rowboat that is reminiscent of a Claude Monet painting and a nearby wooden bench swing. There is a beautiful manicured lawn and garden area for an outdoor wedding ceremony and reception tent in one of the other lawns. The place is just so romantic!

Keesha and her mom Tana (who is co-owner of the famous Maltby Cafe) hired us quite a while ago and they were so excited to have a Same Day Edit shown at the reception. I really enjoyed getting to know them both prior to the wedding, but today we also got to meet Derek who is a true gentleman, and their ADORABLE little daughter!! She is seriously one of the most precious little girls EVER with a head full of super curly blonde hair and a “independent” personality to go along with it. She had a special dedication during the wedding ceremony and also participated (OK, took over) the sand ceremony.

Chris and Humberto (our intern/assistant) worked so hard and we all got some incredible footage. The Same Day Edit was a smashing hit and tons of people asked us for cards after it was shown, including the officiant who said he needs corporate video done for his website. (gotta love that!) It was such a great day!

This was our first time working with Brooke Hendricks from Hendricks Kim Photography and wedding coordinator Laura Gately in addition to DJ Chris Jones from Energetic Events. Whenever we work with a whole group of vendors we’ve never worked with before, we just aren’t sure how things will turn out, but they were all really professional and easy to work with. Laura was really flexible when it came to timing the showing of the Same Day Edit! It was a real pleasure working with all these fabulous vendors!
