Anna & Joe – St. James Cathedral & Fairmont Olympic Hotel

January 25th, 2010 by edit1media

I have so much to say about Anna & Joe’s wedding….it was beautiful, elegant, full of bling, grand, stunning….what other adjectives can I come up with?? It was a long, fun day and after we showed the Same Day Edit, Anna told me “hiring you was one of the best things we did!” which is one of those phrases that just makes my year. Thanks to Heather Sharpe who referred us! Tonight was Heather’s last wedding as a planner since she is going to work on her other business…but we are grateful that she recommended us to this amazing couple!

For those who might ask about Anna’s wedding dress….it’s a one of a kind custom made just for her, so you won’t see it anywhere else.

It is always great to work alongside wedding vendors who we’ve known for years and have come to see as friends. Tania from Azzura Photography had the great idea of bringing a Venetian mask with feathers that matched the wedding for some fun photos…and as always was FABULOUS to work with!! Aria Floral did an unbelievable job creating stunning bouquets for the ladies and grand, breathtaking arrangements for the ceremony and reception with tons of yellow, cream and white flowers with feathers! The Michael Benson Band and The Wedding DJs were there to entertain the guests (and I must say they did a lot of entertaining ME while I was editing and they came in to take a break!). And of course the Fairmont Olympic Hotel and St. James Cathedral are a combination that is hard to beat.

I hope you enjoy their Same Day Edit and please feel free to leave comments! Oh…and keep an eye out for the Super 8mm film which will be coming later after it is back from processing.

Classic Super 8mm Wedding at Annie Wright School – Allison & James

January 5th, 2010 by edit1media

We are so lucky to work with some of the most amazing couples on the planet combined with the most talented people in the wedding industry! When Michelle Engvall from Married and More with Michelle referred Allison & James to us for their wedding at the Annie Wright School, I was SO excited! I’ve driven past that gorgeous school numerous times but have never been inside…and now to film a WEDDING there?? Get out!! Have I told you how much I love historic buildings???

When Allison and her mom came to meet with us, I was doubly excited! They are very serene, calm, strong women who have this great spark in their eyes that draws you to them. And while Allison is a beautiful and sophisticated young lady, she also has a whimsical and fun charm that is contagious! I imagine that these are some of the traits that attracted James to Allison when they met at Harvard University where they were both attending school.

Using a combination of High Definition and Super 8mm motion movie film felt very right for this couple since they embraced both modern whimsy and historical style into their wedding. This highlight is shot completely in film which gives it an ageless, artistic feel but they will also be receiving a longer edit in all High Definition so they get the best of both worlds!

If you would like to see some of the details and decor from Steven Moore Designs and the fabulous photos taken by Gabriel Boone Photography, check out the wedding in the current issue of Seattle Metropolitan Bride & Groom.

Super 8mm Wedding Film – West Palm Beach, Florida

June 10th, 2009 by edit1media

I just got back some Super 8mm movie film and was so excited to see what we got on it! The fun and mysterious thing about shooting on motion picture film is that you really have no idea how it will turn out until you get it back from development. But the rewards can be huge! It is such a completely different feel than our usual High Definition wedding videos….it’s shaky and grainy but the colors are gorgeous and there is just a nostalgic, vintage — comfortable — feel to it.

This particular wedding was in West Palm Beach, Florida and since we were heading out that way, Chris and I decided to take a short 4-day cruise to the Bahamas prior to Dalia & Mitchell’s wedding. Motion picture film is not supposed to go through xray machines and I had no problem at SeaTac having a hand check. It was actually quite entertaining to chat with the TSA guy about how he grew up shooting Super8 and he was curious what we were doing with it. But when we got to the cruise ship, it was a whole different ball game! The guy there forced us to xray the film even though there were “DO NOT XRAY” stickers all over it! Then on the way home it got xrayed again at the airport in Miami! I was really stressed that the film would be ruined. So I wound up waiting a long time while until I finished shooting some rolls at a few other weddings before sending it in for processing.

Unfortunately, some of the film was damaged from the xray exposure (and probably some user error too!) but I had enough to put together a cute littler opener for Dalia & Mitchell. I love it because it shows just enough of a glimpse in to their day that you want to see more…and yet it doesn’t ruin the surprise of the rest of their video. Yes, that’s me getting all artsy on you! Anyway, I hope you enjoy this and if you like it enough to add in a little bit of  Super8 to your wedding video, send me an email!
